The Chevrolet Tahoe is the full-size SUV that police departments, families, and contractors rely on. The 5th generation (2021+) brought an independent rear suspension, dramatically improving ride quality and cargo space. It shares the Silverado's bulletproof powertrains.

The 2021+ Tahoe is the best full-size SUV you can buy — the IRS rear suspension transformed the ride. For used buyers, the 2015-2020 models are very capable but ride roughly on bad roads. Budget for AFM-related oil consumption on any 5.3L V8 model. The 6.2L V8 is smoother and doesn't have AFM issues in newer models. Consider converting to coil springs if the Autoride air suspension fails — it's cheaper than OEM replacement.
